4 Great Tips To Stretch Your Holiday Budget

 index

Holidays are just around the corner and many of us aren’t financially prepared for the presents, holiday parties and winter trips.  With so many events, it’s hard to keep on budget even with good intentions.  Here are 4 great tips on how to keep the next few months within your holiday budget AND still feel like you’re celebrating with family and friends!

1. Reuse your Decorations for Last Year

If you’re getting tired of all your decorations and are looking to buy new pieces, try a recycle party instead!  Invite your friends and neighbors to bring Christmas décor exchange party!  They can bring the things they have grown tired of and leave with new ones for FREE!

2. Stay home with Family and make the most of homemade meals and quality time together

Instead of going on vacation together, traveling to a new destination~ try making it a “holiday retreat” at home.  Invite loved ones over for the weekend, cook lavish meals, and spend quality time together.  It’ll feel like you all went away~

3. Have a White Elephant party

White Elephant Parties are the perfect way to bring fun and laughter to any party.  You can cap the price at $20 and buy 1 gift for your group of friends.  A great way to pair the White Elephant Party is to have a big potluck and add in fun games, reused decorations (see #1), and play holiday music to celebrate the festivities!

4. Shop Secondhand

It’s so tempting to go out and buy new outfits for all your holiday parties and events.  But this year, try going to your local Thrift Store or Buffalo Exchange and get a discounted price for gently used clothes.  You’ll find great dresses, dress shirts, and sweaters that feel new for you~ but are a fraction of the cost!

AND REMEMBER…

The true spirit of the holidays is to spend time with loved ones and be thankful for this past year and the new year to come!
