Creating and building a business is not a one-man show. It requires a team effort, or at least the ability to build trust and confidence among key players, and effectively communicate with partners, team members, investors, vendors, and customers. These actions are the hallmark of an effective leader.
Accept Responsibility
Accept responsibility for all actions. Everyone and every company makes mistakes. Good entrepreneurs don’t want to be seen as perfect, and they have to be seen as willing to accept the fact that “the buck stops here.” No excuses, or putting the blame on the economy, competitors, or team members. Accept full responsibility for everything you choose and every decision you make
Have a High Degree of Self-Awareness
Understand your strengths and limits of your management style. Developing emotional self–awareness is a crucial first step in effective leadership because it lays the foundation upon which emotional and social intelligence is built. Emotional self–awareness also helps leaders link their emotions to the effectiveness of their interactions with others. Leaders who have an understanding of their own emotions, personality, strengths and weaknesses can better engage with employees and clients
Focus On What Really Matters
Focus on what really matters as a firm. It might be securing your fein number, it might be ensuring that you’re not imitating another business’ branding image, or perhaps that your messaging reads perfectly. Focusing inward and focusing constructively on others helps leaders cultivate the primary elements of emotional intelligence. A fuller understanding of how they focus on the wider world can improve their ability to devise strategy, innovate, and manage organizations.
